PTC HISTORY:
Through the receipt of a $15,000 MIRA (Managing Information with Rural
America) grant from the W. K. Kellogg Foundation in May of 1999, the Pierce Technology Center was able to procure:
- (3) Personal Computers
- (1) Inkjet Color Printer
- (1) Scanner
- (1) Laminator.

PTC GOAL:
Since its origination, the Center has worked with many different organizations
to create a place where the residents of Pierce can access computer technology,
the Internet, and cost-effective computer courses.

SERVICES:
Classes Offered: The Center is most often utilized
by individuals who wish to work independently. However, the following
classes are currently available:
- Computers-Made-Easy (Introduction)
- Simple Documents (Word Processing)
- Quick Calculations (Spreadsheets)
- Start Surfing! (Internet/Email)
- Get Creative! (Scanners & Digital Cameras)
- Where Did It Go? (File Organizing)
- Looking for Work? (Resumes & Job Searching)
Typically, each class lasts four (4) hours, but this can
vary, since most classes are scheduled for one-on-one training. The fee
for each class is $5 to cover material expenses. Simply sign-up for a
class at the front counter of the Library, and a tutor will call to schedule
a class time that is convenient for you.
Software Available: The Center's computers have software loaded for a number of uses,
including typing a letter, creating an invoice/database, or designing
flyers. Other software available includes:
- Mavis Beacon Teaches Typing
- Personal & Business Legal Forms
- Resume Writing Templates
- Business Plan Templates
All software loaded on the computers can be used at anytime,
and there is never a fee for their use.
Extras: The Center has the following "extras" available for
purchase:
- Black/White or Color Printing Service
- Resume Papers & Envelopes
- Card Stock Paper
- Greeting Card Envelopes
- 3.5" Disks
- CDR/CDRW
- Laminating Service
- Glossy Photo Paper

DONATE:
The PTC is currently
seeking volunteers to assist with computer training. Training will be
provided, and it will not require more than 8 hours a week. Those who
wish to help our mission may donate monies online through the Network for Good
organization.
